West Coast U10G Krush went to Danville this past weekend to compete in the annual Mustang Stampede tournament in the U10 Gold bracket. They had to face 4 teams who all were vying for that top spot while playing with only 1 sub the entire weekend.

Saturday morning started early with a matchup against Mustang Dash. Krush got on the board first when Ciella Seals connected with Hailey Garvin to put Krush up 1-0. The game remained at that score until the end was nearing when Dash was able to sneak one in and tie the game up 1-1. At the buzzer the game remained a tie.

Saturday afternoon pitted Krush against North Marin. Krush got on top early as Alana Albarran connected with Ciella for the goal. After that goal Krush never looked back. They went into half up 6-0 and quickly added 3 more goals in the second half to go up 9-0. In the final minute of the game Krush were awarded a corner kick. Nadia Sherman hit the corner to Ariana Butler who put the ball up in the air for Madylin Harrell to head it in for the 10th and final goal of the game.

Sunday morning was another early morning match for Krush. This time facing Pleasanton Rage White. Krush were the first to score as Alana connected with Ciella to put Krush up 1-0 going into half. In the second half Rage was able to get the equalizer goal pretty quickly. Krush answered back with a second goal as Nadia connected with Ciella to put Krush up 2-1. Rage showed that they were just too much to handle and netted 2 goals in the final five minutes to win 3-2.

After the loss to Rage, Krush was no longer in the running to win the tournament. A win in the final game would earn them second place and the girls were hungry for the win. Facing a solid Union FC team, possession went back and forth throughout the entire first half with no goals being scored. The second half was looking to go the same way until about 21 minutes in when Krush were awarded a corner kick. Madylin took the corner kick and put it through a defenders legs and into the goal for the game winner.

Krush ended the tournament in second place with a record of 2 wins, 1 loss and 1 tie. Defense was once again a key to success as Jillian Barth held opponents to only 4 goals on 17 shots while Ariana, Alana and Kira Korsak anchored the back line throughout. Next up for Krush is the Davis Legacy Summer Clasico August 15th and 16th.

Keep Calm and Krush On
