West Coast Soccer has Huge Success at Las Vegas College Showcase

The competition and college coaches were chasing West Coast Soccer players.

March 18-20 West Coast Soccer took a record number of teams to compete in one of the largest college showcases in the country- The Las Vegas Players College Showcase. West Coast Soccer had five teams that were accepted in this top level event that boasts hundreds of college recruiters in attendance, all searching for the right player and fit for their college programs and from the looks of it they found many quality players that play at West Coast. “This was a huge weekend for us” says Director and head coach Troy Dayak, “I had to bring 4 professional coaching staff members to help handle the load of answering questions about our players” West Coast Soccer Club is the leader in Norcal when it comes to getting players off to college on scholarship. For two consecutive years West Coast has owned this category producing 21 players already signing their national letter of intent for 2016. “This weekend marks a new era for us” says Dayak as top level colleges like UCLA, University of North Carolina, UC Davis, USF, UNLV and many more plus the US Youth National Team Staff stopped in at West Coast games to evaluate potential players to bring into National Camp. Leading the charge was West Coast flag ship team the Wild. Now in their 5th year together they have learned much and accomplished greatness. The two time national champion and three peat state champion Wild didn’t take long to tattoo their club name in the heart and minds of the college recruiters on the sidelines being tagged as the top team in the tournament. Wild dismantled their opponents getting four straight shutout, defeating Santa Monica FC 3-0, Legends FC 5-0, CZ Elite 2-0 & home town team Las Vegas Premier 8-0 in their final game together at the Players Showcase. In all Wild outscored their opponents with 18 goals for & 0 against. Kasidee Wiley lead the team with 15 points 6 goals and 3 assists followed by Devyn Gilfoy & Delanie Sheehan both getting 8pts, Melissa Ellis and Camila Fonseca both had 4pts each, Alyssa DelCastilo, Robyn McCarthy, Lauren Sisneros, Sydni Lunt got 2 pts each & Sienna Zobroski always looked threatening to score. In all the Wild offense out shot their opponents 61- 12 as they went on to dominate the tournament with the best goal differential. The goal scoring was backed by the stellar defense anchored by GK Jessica Lima & defenders Emilie Allum, Megan Amick, Nailah Staples and the glue that kept the team together in the midfield was Tori Nicolo. West Coast U18 Katz also had a great showcase weekend getting massive college coach attention. The newly formed U 18 Katz team made up of many players that travel in to play for West Coast from all around the bay area performed extremely well earning two ties against top rated opponents and finishing a respectable sixth in their bracket. Multiple 2016 Katz graduates were approached by college recruiters after each game. The U17 West Coast Wonder faced some of the best clubs in the country in SoCal Blues, Slammers FC and LA Galaxy South earning two ties and two losses. U17 Wonder had an amazing sideline of college coaches watching as 40+ recruiters were on hand to see them play against the best. West Coast staff are working closely with the college coaches in finding the right fit. U16 West Coast Wildfire gained huge respect competing well against ECNL team from SoCal, defeating LaRoca Utah’s top team 4-2 & stunning the Arizona’s State Champions AZ Arsenal 1-0 in their final game. Wildfire also attracted the attention of national youth teams scouts. West Coast youngest team U15 Wrath gained valuable experience in their first ever College Showcase capped off with a 2-2 tie vs Las Vegas State Champ LVPSA. Next up West Coast Soccer will be holding their college recruiting age group tryouts this Friday March 25th and April 1st.
