West Coast Katz win Champions Cup

This weekend the West Coast Katz win the Champions cup by defeating Sunnyvale Alliance, Natomas United, Ajax East Bay, and Clovis United.

The Katz started off by defeating Natomas 2-0.  Casey Hamilton got the goal with a nice shot into the corner with an assist from Taylor Petersen followed by a goal from Bri Haskins assisted by Leslie Jimenez.  In a tactical battle West Coast’s Alize Perez scored the loan goal in a win over Sunnyvale Alliance.

In Sunday’s play West Coast continued its winning ways by shutting out Ajax East Bay 3-0 and getting two goals from Kailee Haskins and another goal from Taylor Peterson.  Along with an assist from Alize Perez.

In their toughest test on the weekend West Coast Katz had to come back after they got down early.  The defense lead by Sydney Duncan, Isabella Cuevas, Sophia Shookor, Devon Montesinos, Erin Wheatley and Morgan Hall stiffened up and shut down Clovis the rest of the game to keep the Katz in the game.  Later in the first period Amanda Silveira buried a free kick to tie the game up. Kira Karter placed a beautiful through pass for forward Madison Salazar who’s persistent pressuring of the Clovis defense eventually got by her defender and shot the ball past the goalie to put in what became the winning goal.

All weekend the Katz played consistent controlling the midfield with contributions from Tara  Collier, Madison Gannon, Kira Carter and Marissa Pletschette.  Finally, Amanda Leal was stellar, and had many acrobatic saves to keep the weekends competition shots out of the goal.
