West Coast Karma 03 girls competed in the San Francisco International Cup. Karma took on Oympia form San Bernadino who had many tournament championship included San Diego Surf Cup Challenge. Karma didn’t let the 101 degree weather slow them down. Things were looking good until a pass got intercepted in the defense and bad bounce ended up in goal past Maddie Maninna. in the last minute of the 1st half. Karma came back with 3 unanswered goals, Mannina assited two goals to Alina Garcia and Kiara Rodriguez had a long shot for the 3rd to claim the victory and control of Bracket A. Peyton Wooten secured the back line as Ellie Hillar got a second half shutout. Game 2 was played at Beach Chalet where it was a little cooler but still in the 90s at game time. Goals by Haylee Heffner, Mariya Hinojosa, Wooten, and Maninna all scored against East Bay United Bay Oaks as Maninna and Hillar combined for the shutout anchored by Ycela Ochoa. Game 3 was against a historic Southern California team Pateadores. Early goals from Sami Wilson and Melanie Ngyuen enable Karma to work on different strategies as they qualified for the finals. Wingers Nicole Codington, Francesca Periera, Kelsey Sako, and Mercedez Valverde controlled the flanks as they got another shutout. The championship game was against USA a top ranked team from Southern California. USA converted on a free kick to end the half to give them the lead 1-0. West Coast showed grit as Kelsey Brumm, Rodriguez, and Gaby Casillas worked well in transition. Late the half USA converted on another free kick to win 2-0.
