On Saturday, May 6th, the West Coast Wildkatz 05 had a double header with one game in Mountain House in the morning and a second game in Brentwood in the afternoon. After a weekend off, Wildkatz took to the pitch to go against cross-town rival and contender for first place in Spring League, Pleasanton Rage. The game was physical from the start, but Wildkatz found the net first with a goal by Katie Strong on an assist from Melanie Reid. The first half ended with the Wildkatz in the lead 1-0. After the start of the second half, Jayden Morton sent the ball into the goal and raised the score to 2-0. Later in the second half, Kendall Cushing dribbled the ball just past the half line and sent the ball soaring over the Rage goal keepers head and into the back of the net. West Coast dominated the game with multiple passing sequence leading a flurry of shots. A late call by the ref led to a penalty kick for Rage and the game would end with a 3-1 Wildkatz win.
In the second game of a double header, the Wildkatz took to the field against Impact FC of Brentwood. Impact scored early, but the Wildkatz responded with a goal by Jazmin Staples. With the score tied, Karlee Lywandowsky found Katie Strong and Strong found the net, giving the Wildkatz the lead 2-1. Emma Colomnero would score just before the half to increase the Wildkatz lead 3-1. At the start of the second half, Wildkatz scored again with another goal by Colomnero. Impact found the net to score again, but soon after Cameron Silva sent the ball into the net to give the Wildkatz a solid 5-2 win. The Wildkatzare still at the top of the Spring Leauge leader board. Next up is a match against Diablo FC in Concord on Saturday, May 13th, and a match against Santa Rosa United in Mountain House on Sunday, May 14th.
