WCS Wildkatz move into 1st place

After a 3-0 win against Santa Rosa United in Santa Rosa the previous weekend, the West Coast 05 girls team Wildkatz, continued with NorCal Spring League play with a match in Mountain House on April 23rd, against Mustang SC 05 Elite. Mustang had been undefeated going into the weekend and the Wildkatz had a chance to slide into first place with a win. From the first whistle, the teams brought an evenly matched, yet physical game.  Wildkatz had many shot on goal, but were finally able to score with a nice pass from Katie Strong to Zusette Zamora.  Mustang answered quickly with a fast break and goal of their own.  Both teams battled back and forth and with just seconds left in the first half of play, Strong battled through many defenders to score for the Wildkatz and give them the lead 2-1 at the half.  In the second half of play, the Wildkatz defense and goalie held Mustang scoreless.  With minutes left in the game, Karlee Lywondowsky sent a corner kick to the front of Mustang’s goal and found Cameron Silva who sent the ball into the back of the net.  Wildkatz took the win 3-1 and are currently sitting at the top of the leader board for NorCal Spring League for Premier area 3/4.  Next up for Wildkatz is a weekend off and then two games on May 6th. They will meet cross town rival, Pleasanton Rage 05 Elite in Mountain House and then they will travel to Brentwood to face Impact 05.
