WCS Wildkatz dominate League and State Cup play

The WildKatz 05 girls’ team from West Coast Soccer Club continued with NorCal Fall League play in the 04 Premier bracket and competed in the second game of 05 State Cup play.  The Wildkatz are currently in first place in the 04 Premier bracket of NorCal Fall league & leading the group play in 05 state cup age group. In the past 8 games the Wildkatz have scored 43 goals and allowed only 6 solidifying their #4 national ranking. On Saturday, September 30th, WildKatz met Turlock Tornadoes 04 in their fourth match of Fall League play.  The WildKatz began the game with a barrage of shots on goal, but were unable to find the net.  The Tornadoes were the first to score and the WildKatz found themselves down 0-1 in the first half of play.  After more shots on goal, WildKatz were able to even the score on a shot by Cameron Silva.  The first half ended with a 1-1 tie.  As the second half of play began, Jayden Morton found the net and gave the WildKatz their first lead of the game.  Taryn Richey sent the ball to the back of the net for WIldKatz giving them a 3-1 lead. The WildKatz defense continued to shut down the Tornadoes and didn’t allow them to get any shots on goal. With time running out in the match, Silva found the net again and the WildKatz remained undefeated with the 4-1 win.  On Sunday, October 1st, WildKatz met Mustang 05 Elite for their second NorCal State Cup match.  Mustang came to play and at the first whistle they sprinted to the goal, but WildKatz keeper Bella Gelao slid out to meet the player and stopped her run and the ball.  That was one of the only times Mustang got close to scoring as WildKatz defense continued to shut Mustang down.  WildKatz found the net 4 different times during the match. Savannah Cordero found the net twice, and Cameron Silva and Karlee Lywandowsky each scored one for the WildKatz. With mere seconds left in the match, a foul was called on the WildKatz just outside of the box.  Mustang took the kick and despite a heroic effort by Gelao, the ball bounced just inside the upper crossbar.  WildKatz took the win 4-1.  Next up for WildKatz 05 is the continuation of 04 Fall League play as they travel to Clovis on October  7th to meet California Odyssey 04 and then they will host CNS 05 from San Francisco in Cal North California Regional League(CRL) play.

West Coast 05 Wildkatz player Taryn Richey is showing her versatility on both sides of the field. Taryn is a solid defender but has scored in past two games when put up top as a forward.
