WCS Wicked sweep West Region, off to Finals

West Coast Soccer Wicked 04 Girls swept the US Club Soccer National Cup Western Regional tournament. The National Cup is US Club Soccer’s cup-based national championship competition open to all U12 through U19 Boys and Girls members.  National Cup XVI, is the 16th edition of the competition and takes place in the summer of 2017. Winners of each region advance to the National Cup XVI Finals, held in Westfield Indiana July 21-24th where national champions will be crowned. West Coast Wicked competed against top level premier teams to earn a spot in the National Cup. Wicked squared off against Sacramento United in the first match of the competition, Makeila Yancey blasted the goal net twice while Aryana Jones and Laelah Ray each scored earning Wicked a 4-3 result. Elissa Giuliacci had an exceptional tournament getting an assist in game one and a game changing assist in game two vs Diablo FC. Gianna Ceccanti got the game winning goal late in the second half for a 1-0 victory. Riding high, Wicked came out strong the next day with solid defensive effort by Andrea Castillo, Jade Castillo, Samantha Remy, Maria Robelledo, Sabrina Rogers and GK Indie Stoneberger to secure a 3-0 shutout win against home town team Davis Legacy. West Coast faced Stars Academy in what would be a rematch of the Norcal state cup semi final played earlier in the year.  Aryana Jones got the first goal assisted by Emma Valadez to go up 1-0 in the first half. Indie Stoneberger came up with big saves denying Stars the opportunity to find the net. Wicked were able to shift into another gear when Makeila Yancey scored 2 goals to lead the team, Lexi Oddson contributed a goal and Aryana Jones provided 3 assists and a goal to cap off a standout performance. Kailey Matta, Allyson “Taz” Thompson, MaryJane Anzo, Ella Ferrick, Kaya Brown all played with hustle & heart that made a huge impact to help propel Wicked to a phenomenal 5-0 team victory.  “It was the strength throughout our team that earned us this regional championship, we are looking forward to US Club Nationals in Indiana this July.”
