WCS Katz win first NPL match, advance in State Cup

West Coast U19 Katz returned to NPL Spring league with a 3-1 victory over Davis Legacy White.  Forward Madison Gannon lead scorers with 2 goals.  Devyn Montesinos assisted on Madison’s first goal that occurred two minutes into the first half. Davis Legacy scored at the 14min  mark in the first half on a penalty kick after a Katz defender committed a foul in the goal box.  It did not take long for Madison Gannon as she beat a Davis Legacy defender to put the Katz up a goal about a minute later.

West Coast surged forward to get the final goal that put the game away, Kailee Haskins placed a perfect shot in the corner assist by Alize Perez.  The Katz defense was lead by center backs Sydney Duncan and Marissa Pletschette with outside defenders Taylor Petersen, Morgan Hall, Erin Wheatley and Sophia Shokoor holding the lead.

This Sunday West Coast Soccer U19 Katz leap past Granite Bay Thunder to advance to the qtr final match of State cup Gold division with a 4-1 result in Norcal State Cup knock Round. The Katz controlled the ball well through the midfield play of Lesley Jiminez, Amanda Silviera, Jessica Bonfiglio, Madison Gannon, Devyn Montesinos. The offense was firing on all cylinders with creative play from Caleigh Haskins, Brianna Haskins and Madison Salazar ultimately Katz spread the scoring around with goals from Casey Hamilton, Marissa Pletschette, Lesley Jimenez, and Alize Perez.  Assists came from Tara Collier, Brianne Haskins, and Sydney Duncan. Marissa Pletschette had the shot of the game scoring from 30 yards out with a quick released shot placing the ball in the top left corner just out reach of the Granite Bay Goal Keeper.

Katz had other defensive stand outs, GK Amanda Leal, Morgan Hall, Taylor Peterson, Sophia Shokoor and Eryn Wheatley were all solid allowing only one goal.  “The girls played amazing, each and every player did their role perfectly.  I’m so proud of these young ladies they exemplify quality student athletes and good sportsmanship” says West Coast coach Troy Dayak.  Next up Katz continue NPL Spring league play and move on to the State Cup quarter finals on May 7th.
