WCS Karma travel to Las Vegas

The weekend started with attending University of Nevada Las Vegas vs University of Nevada Reno (Governor’s Cup Match) where UNLV defeat UNR 5-0 on Senior Night.  The girls got to watch West Coast Alum Lauren Sisneros play during the match.
Game one matched Karma vs Arsenal of Colorado. 1 minute and 9 seconds into the match Sami Wilson found a ball from Alina Garcia and put it low in the corner to put West Coast 1-0.  They continued to move the ball around and missed a few more chances. The game took a turn in the 34th minute where a pass found Arsenals forward who equalized the game by slipping a ball past goalkeeper Ashley Levi.   Second half went back and forth and both teams couldn’t equalize on their opportunity. Arsenals best chance came in on a cross as goalkeeper Ellie Hillar stuck it between her gloves. Daisy Samuelson had the best chance of the half as it went a little wide.  (interersting note as Daisys pen pal from Colorado happened to be on the other team and they finally got to meet face to face)
Game two put Karma against Las Vegas Premier of Nevada in another tough battle. Vegas scored on a uncleared corner kick off of Hillar in the 25th minute and the game went back and forth as West Coast had the majority of the play and chances. A loss would have knocked Karma out so as they pressured for the equalizer Las Vegas Premier scored 2 goals in the last 5 minutes to make the score a lopsided 0-3.
Game 3 had Karma play Scottdale Blackhawks from Arizona and the goal was to play pretty futbol. It worked as Karma connected 60 passes and ended up with a goal to lead 1-0.  During a corner a miscommunication allowed an own goal to make it 1-1. Blackhawks then compacted the defense to maintain the draw but with 2 minutes remaining Anaya Selton scored the game winner to give West Coast Karma a 2-1 victory.   Las Vegas is an entertaining city so am sure the families got to enjoy the sites of Fabulous Las Vegas and come back to prepare to finsh off the California Regional League where they are currently in 1st place and take on Santa Clara Sporting by Levi Stadium on Sunday November 5th at 5:00pm and hope the experience of a great tournament will help them prepare for CRL.
