The West Coast U14G Kaos closed out their first round of Norcal State Cup qualifying game with a solid 1-1-1 record. Kaos tied Pleasanton Rage Premier 3-3, lost to Marin FC Blue 0-5, and beat Lamorinda 6-2.
In a soggy weekend of soccer, West Coast Kaos played two highly anticipated Norcal State Cup matches. In an away game on Saturday, Kaos faced a top ranked Marin FC team. As the match started, so did the heavy rain. Marin scored in the first five minutes of the first half. They went on to score four more before the match ended. Wet and cold, Kaos put up a good challenge and gave the seasoned Marin team something to think about when they meet again.
On Sunday, as the rain continued, Kaos played their third and final Norcal State Cup qualifying match against Lamorinda. Within the first 3 minutes of the match Lamorinda managed to find a scoring opportunity. They went ahead 1-0. However, Kaos answered with goal of their own from Midfielder, Melanie Ngyuen. Ngyuen fired a shot from the left that flew over the Goal Keeper’s fingers and into the far backside.
Kaos continued their offensive attack with two more goals before the end of the first half. Forward Alivia Ganz nailed the second goal and Outside Mid, Nicole Codington drilled a shot in from right. The first half ended with Kaos up 3-1.
In the second half, Ganz found two more goals to claim her first hat trick of the season. West Coast’s Goal Keeper and part-time Forward, Maddie Manninna also claimed her first goal of the season.
West Coast Kaos back line of Kassidy Brackett, Gaby Casillas, Kelsy Brumm, Kelsy Sako and Mercedez Valverde are credited with a solid defensive performance.
Next up for Kaos is the continuation of Norcal fall league. The girls will also head to Las Vegas for the Mayor’s Cup in late October. They will then head to Orlando Florida for the Disney Junior Showcase.
