WCS 05 Wildkatz dominate MVLA Bay Area Fall Cup

In their first tournament since July, West Coast Soccer Club’s girls’ team WildKatz 05 competed in MVLA’a Bay Area Fall Cup during the weekend of October 28th-29th.  WildKatz took to the pitch in Hayward at Chabot College ready to play their first match against CNS Stars.  WildKatz took control of the game minutes into the match and scored quickly with back-to-back goals by Nadia Sherman.  WildKatz found the goal again with a shot by Aliah Avila Just before the end of the first half, Karlee Lywandowsky found the back of the net and WildKatz would lead 4-0 at the half.  In the second half of play, Wildkatz had several shot on goal, but didn’t score again until Savannah Cordero blasted the net.  One more goal for WildKatz by Zusette Zamora would give the WildKatz a 6-0 win.  In the second match of the day, WildKatz met tournament host MVLA United White.  The match was quick and aggressive from the first whistle.  WildKatz found the net mid-way through the first half with a shot by Cordero.  The match continued to be physical throughout both halves and with the final whistle, WildKatz took the win 1-0.  On day two of tournament play, WildKatz met Mill Valley Rockers on the pitch.  WildKatz controlled the game throughout and Silva found the net to put WildKatz up in the first half of play followed by a goal by Cordero to clinch the win and trip to the championship for WildKatz.  In the last match of the tournament, the championship, WildKatz met South Valley United of Visalia.  The match began with WildKatz controlling play and after several well orchestrated shots that just missed the goal, Silva dribbled through traffic to find the net and to give WildKatz the lead.  The half would end with WildKatz in the lead by only one goal.  After halftime, WildKatz came back to the pitch ready to finish the match with a win.  Zamora would find the net two times and Silva would have another before the end of the match. Jayden Morton finalized the win with a shot from the top of the goalie box as she sent the ball soaring over the heads of United.  WildKatz took the win and 1st place for U13 girls.  WildKatz defense including goalie Bella Gelao, defenders Madison Reid, Jasmine Staples, Sydney Goodwin, Makenna Galvan and Taryn Richey kept their opponents scoreless in every game of the tournament with 4 shut outs.  During the tournament, WildKatz totaled 14 points for and 0 against. Next up for WildKatz 05 next weekend is the continuation of Nor Cal 04 Fall League play against Cal Cougars in Stockton and Cal North Fall League play against Santa Clara Sporting in Santa Clara.  WildKatz maintain a strong hold of the 1st place position in both leagues.
