WCS 05 Wildkatz complete the double!

West Coast Wildkatz 05 girls successfully completed their mission for the 2017 league.  The “DOUBLE” in Sports is a difficult task to accomplish, the U13 Wildkatz did it by winning Cal-North’s U13 CRL league and a more difficult NorCal State Premier bracket playing up iin the 2004/U14 age group. Not resting on their laurels of the team’s Spring League success when the won both U13 league and Cross Regional Playoffs, they set a new challenge, continuing to play against other premier teams in their own age group and played up an age group too. Wildkatz successfully completed two simultaneous undefeated seasons, on Saturday the Wildkatz secured the CRL title with a 2-2 draw vs Almaden United and on Sunday the final game of the U14 NorCal State Premier bracket was exciting and meaningful as it pitted the #1 seed Wildkatz vs. #2 seed  AJAX United from Modesto. The Wildkatz needed only a tie or win to finish in 1st place. Battling in a see-saw match versus a very formidable and determined opponent, the West Coast girls saw themselves down 1-0, up 2-1, down 3-2, and then inside the last 7 minutes while displaying the calm tenacity and refuse-to-lose attitude that has been a prominent characteristic of the team, the Wildkatz equalized, then ran out the clock for the 3-3 tie to win the State Premier bracket title. The Wildkatz finished the fall as “Double” league champions and hold a 21 game undefeated streak. Wildkatz are slotted in the top group for the State Cup tournament and will resume their pursuit of the State Cup title in Mid-December.
