WCS 05 Krush win Magic Cup

West Coast Krush 05 Girls team came away with the U13 Premier Championship
Trophy this past weekend at the Magic Cup Tournament in Morgan Hill, going
undefeated for the weekend and allowing only a single goal for the
tournament
Krush faced off against San Jose Earthquakes Pre-DA 05/06 in their first
game of the tournament Saturday morning. Krush scored their first goal of
the tournament in the morning when Kira Korsak sent the ball upfield to
Katie Strong. Strong surged past two Earthquake defenders, to place the ball
in the back of the net. Krush scored again in the first half when Karlee
Lywandowsky intercepted a goal kick, dribbled around the Earthquakes defense
and kicked the ball low into the net. Strong scored again in the second half
when Vanessa Gomez sent a quick touch pass to Strong, who made her way down
the field to scored Krush’s third, and final, goal of the game. Final score:
3-0.

In Saturday’s afternoon game, Krush played a strong Marin FC G05Blue team.
Krush had several good offensive looks, but was unable to connect with a
goal, while Krush held Marin scoreless throughout the game. Final score:
0-0.
In a must win scenario to get into the Championship game Sunday afternoon,
Krush faced off on the pitch against EC Real Salinas Sunday morning. After
being scoreless almost the entire first half, Krush got on the board in the
last seconds of the half when Cami Silva deflected Karlee Lywandowsky’s
corner kick into the net, putting Krush up 1-0 as the half ran out. Krush
took control of the game in the second half, scoring twice more. The second
goal of the game was off another Lywandowsky corner kick. This time Silva
rebounded Sutton Denny’s shot attempt after Dutton initially received the
corner kick. Lywandowsky put the game away for good on when she scored on
free kick just outside the 18-yard box. Final score: 3-0, with Krush earning
a spot in the championship final against CV/SJEQ 2005G PDA.

CV/SJEQ PDA scored first early into the game, but Krush responded a short
time later when Silva stole the ball from a CV/SJEQ defender and shot it at
the back of the net. Later in the half Denny sent the ball upfield to Silva,
who blasted past the CV/SJEQ PDA defense to score her second goal of the
game. She completed a hat-trick moments later when Paisley Merlin passed the
ball to Silva, who completed her third shot of the game. Krush held off
CV/SJEQ PDA in second half, not allowing another goal in the game. Final
score: 3-1, with Krush taking home the championship.

Krush finished the tournament with a 3-0-1 record, with only one goal
allowed by goalie Grace Langenfeld and the Krush defense in four games,
along with a strong showing from the midfield players and forwards
throughout the weekend. Next up for Krush is the start of NorCal Fall League
this weekend.
