West Coast Soccer U12 girls faced Union City Premier & Athletico Santa Rosa in state cup play. West Coast Krush 05 Girls team was back on this pitch, this time in Modesto for State Cup Second Round play, facing off against two strong teams, finishing the day 1-1.
West Coast teamwork was on display with effective passing plays, challenging Fuego’s quick play, but the score at the end of the first half was 2-0 Fuego. That changed in the second half when forward Katelyn Cainey, found midfielder Daisy Thompkins in front of the goal, who made the shot, giving Krush their first goal of the game, making the score 2-1. Krush played some
Impressive soccer putting the pressure on Fuego, but Fuego scored once more before time expired. Final score 3-1 Fuego.
In the second game of the day, Krush’s played against Atletico Santa Rosa Sevilla. Krush came out even stronger in this game scoring first on a goal by forward Kimmie Keller, who out maneuvered Sevilla’s goalie after receiving the ball from midfielder Hailey Garvin. Santa Rosa tied the game in the beginning of the second half, but Krush responded just a few minutes later as defender Kaya Whittaker sent the ball up the field to Keller, who found the back of net for the second time that game, giving Krush a 2-1 lead. Krush put the game out of reach for good on a scoring drive where Krush moved the ball up the field with a convincing passing sequence that ended with Garvin passing the ball forward to Presley Perez who scored Krush’s third, and final goal ending the game with a 3-1 advantage for West Coast. “The Krush team played some really good soccer and are continuing to grow as players. I’m excited to see them develop into great young players for our club”
Krush Girls 05 will have tryouts for the team after the conclusion of State Cup play. Quarter Final and Semifinal games are scheduled for this weekend, followed by state cup finals on February 12th.
