WCS 05 Krush beat Fusion 2-0 in State Cup play

Stormy rain and wind conditions couldn’t keep the West Coast Soccer Krush 05 Girls team down when they faced off Sunday against crosstown rival Livermore Fusion SC 05 Girls Maroon in first round State Cup play.

As expected, Krush and Fusion battled hard the entire game, but Krush scored first when defensive back Kira Korsak took a shot at the goal from outside the 18-yard box, giving Krush a 1-0 lead at the half. Krush took control of the game in the second half with solid passing by midfielders Daisy Tompkins, Hailey Garvin and Makenna Galvan. As the half was winding down, center back Katherine Phelps kicked the ball from Krush’s side of the midfield line, straight at the goal, scoring Krush’s second goal of the game, giving Krush the 2-0 victory. Krush’s forwards Ciella Seals, Presley Perez, Kimmie Keller & Katelyn Cainey had great ball movement throughout the game, while defensive core of Korsak, Phelps, Kaya Whittaker and goalie Jillian Barth played solid defense the entire game, with some great saves made Barth, who did not allow a single goal the entire day.

Next up for Krush, the Las Vegas Mayor’s Cup tournament at the end of the month. For more information about Krush, visit www.westcoastsoccerclub.com.
