Krush grab a tie and win in NorCal League play

After last weekend’s State Cup games, West Coast Krush 05 Girls team returned to league play this past weekend against two strong teams.

First game for Krush Saturday morning was against Alliance FC Shooting Starts 05G. Krush and Alliance battled back and forth for almost the entire first half with very physical play. Krush had several shot attempts on goal, but Alliance was the first to score with one-minute left in the first half.

Down, but not out, Krush came out determined in the second half. The determination paid off midway through the half when Makenna Galvan passed the ball to Ciella Seals, who fired at the goal from the edge of the 18-yard box, tying the game 1 all. Alliance countered a minute later, scoring their second goal of game, re-taking the lead. Krush once again fought back. Several minutes later, Krush received a corner kick, taken by Daisy Tompkins, whose kick deflected off the Alliance goalie at the top of goal, landing inside the goal. With the game tied 2-2, both teams hustled trying to score in the last five minutes of the game, but despite the strong efforts, the game ended in a 2-2 tie.

Sunday saw Krush facing off against Impact 05 G Black in their second game of the weekend. Krush came out strong with solid play from the entire team. Midway through the first half, Kimmie Keller intercepted an Impact pass and ran down the field, striking the ball into the corner of the net, scoring the first goal of the game. Krush continued to control the pace of the game in the second half. After a Krush missed attempt on the Impact’s goal, Katelyn Cainey anticipated the Impact goalie’s short goal kick, receiving the ball before the Impact defender, striking the it hard into the goal, giving Krush a 2-0 lead, but Krush wasn’t done yet. Towards the end of the game, on a defensive counter play by Krush, Tompkins passed the ball to Keller, who then crossed the ball Seals, where she out maneuvered Impact’s middle defender to Krush’s third and final goal of the, giving Krush the 3-0 shutout victory, their first of Fall League this season.

Next up for Krush, a league game against neighboring Dublin United on Saturday and their third State Cup game again crosstown rival Fusion on Sunday. Keep calm and Krush on!
