07 Kryptonite Poised in First For Fall

West Coast Kryptonite 07 Girls played two league games over the weekend and came away undefeated and are still sitting at the top of the Gold Division of Region 3/4. Saturday Kryptonite played a very talented team from Dublin. The game went back and forth and ended in a 2-2 draw. Jariah Indalecio opened the scoring early on a nice finish, and added another later in the game. Nylah Trias was strong at central defense, turning away many chances. In the midfield, Aubrey Westbrook sent in dangerous balls over the top to create opportunities on the attack, and Nikki Orth also provided excellent passes. The goalkeeping of Piper Sweeney and Madden Black denied Dublin shots on goal. Sunday Kryptonite traveled to Orinda to face Cal Magic. The pace was feverish and play was amazing by both teams. Kendall Shetter and Westbrook did a great job on the flanks, and Kambrie Jehs and Ella Nguyen had the middle sewn up. Indalecio netted a hat trick with one goal coming from a volley off a corner, a half volley over the keepers head, and a shot in the corner for West Coast to take home the 3-2 victory. Jayden Reynolds was dymanic at forward and gave the Magic defense trouble all game long. Athena Taylor played multiple positions during the game and was a stand out with her defensive abilities. Coach Sara Girotto commented on how good the Kryptonite team passed the ball and especially enjoyed the camaraderie displayed by the competing Magic team.
