06 Krossfire top Rage in crosstown derby

This past Sunday saw Krossfire take on crosstown Pleasanton Rage 06G Elite in a first round NorCal State Cup match. The first half was a big defensive battle for both sides. Both teams were able to create a few scoring opportunities, but no one could get quality shots off. The matched was deadlocked at 0-0 going into half.

The second half was looking more like a continuation of the first until Rage was called for a foul, awarding Krossfire with a direct free kick. Madeline Snodgress shot the freekick over the top of the Rage defense and past the goalkeeper to put Krossfire on top 1-0. Just 5 minutes later, Madylin Harrell hit a cross to Kendra Riddiough who knocked it in to put Krossfire up 2-0. The Krossfire defense, anchored by Brittany Hahn, Adriana Paneda, Ariana Butler, and Madylin, kept Rage in check until near the end of the match when Rage was able to get one past and close the gap. Goalkeeper Jennessa Maselli was a brick wall stopping 7 of 8 shots.

Krossfire held off the final Rage push to get the 2-1 Derby victory.

Next up for Krossfire is a NorCal Premier Fall League match against Palo Alto 06G Blue
