West Coast Soccer WildKatz 05 girls started NorCal Fall League in a new age bracket. With a first place finish in Spring League in the U13 Premier Division of Region 3/4/5, Wildkatz coach Troy Dayak decided that the team could use the challenge of playing up an age level in U14’s. Like the temperature that weekend, the WildKatz rose to the challenge. For first game of the weekend on August 26th, the WildKatz traveled to Merced to meet Merced Atlas 04 on the pitch. From the first whistle, WildKatz dominated play. After many shots on goal, Wildkatz finally scored on a great shot by midfielder Savannah Cordero. Wildkatz would score again with a volley by Jayden Morton and the half would end with the Wildkatz up 2-0. Early in the second half, Karlee Lywandowsky crossed the ball to Cameron Silva and Silva sent the ball to the corner of the net. Silva would score again on a cross from Taryn Richey late in the second half. The Wildkatz defense including Madison Reid, Sydney Goodwin, Jasmine Staples, Mackenna Galvan and Richey held Merced to few shots on goal and would keep them scoreless throughout the match. The Wildkatz would take their first U14 Fall League game 4-0.
On Sunday, August 27th, WildKatz met Manteca FC Dash 04 in Livermore. From the first whistle the match was physical on both sides of the field. WildKatz offense shined with Emma Colmenro, Nadia Sherman, Savannah Cordero, Karlee Lywandowsky, and Cameron Silva as they dominated play with excellent footwork and precise passing and would be the first to score in the game with a goal by Silva. Wildkatz defense and goalie Bella Gelao continued to shut down Manteca’s offense. WildKatz would score again in the first half with a shot by Lywandowsky and maintain the lead going into the second, 2-0. Shortly after the second half began, Colmenero would send a corner kick to front of Manteca’s goal and find midfielder Jayden Morton ready to send the ball in and put WildKatz up 3-0. As the temperature rose, WildKatz began to struggle with the heat and Manteca found the net twice. GK Bella Gelao blocked several attempts and Wildkatz would take the win in their second U14 Fall League game with a 3-2 victory.
Next up for the WildKatz is another U14 Fall League match, this time against Cal Cougars 04 of Stockton on September 9th in Livermore, followed by their first Nor Cal State Cup match against Castro Valley AFC 05 in Castro Valley on September 10th.
