01 Kurse at Copa Surf tournament in Morgan Hill

Upon returning from their respective high school teams, the girls of WCS U17
Kurse reunited to face some stiff competition at the 2018 COPA Surf
Qualifier Tournament in Morgan Hill. Led by Coach Amber King, the girls
found themselves facing the #8 ranked Vision Soccer Academy in game 1. The
WCS Kurse came out strong and many quality on-frame shots. It was a corner
kick goal by Sierra Dazhan and a penalty kick goal by Kailey Matta that
ended the game in a 2-2 tie.
Game 2 brought some of the worst weather conditions of the weekend, but it
did not keep the WCS Kurse down. The amazing combo of Sierra Dazhan on the
assist and Makeila Yancey for the goal helped the girls weather the storm to
end in a 1-1 tie against San Bruno Tornadoes.
Sunday morning’s game 3 brought the WCS Kurse to the faster, artificial turf
for what would prove to be in intense match against the Palo Alto SC. In
this faster-paced game, the WCS Kurse took 18 shots on goal. An assist by
Katie Reed with goal by Stella Hunt and an assist by Sierra Dazhan and goal
by Monique Reil kept the game exciting, but ultimately fell short in a 3 to
2 loss that eliminated Kurse from the qualifier. Overall it was a great
performance for Kurse 01 to prepare for spring season ahead.
