West Coast Whiplash U17G played two hard fought games last weekend and emerged undefeated having battled two physical teams to end with a tie and a win.
Saturday Whiplash played Granite Bay at home in Livermore. West coast dominated the match from the start with multiple shots, midfielders Lexi Salazar and Aveena Cline pressured Granite bay throughout the game setting up Lauren Martin for a very pretty goal that went left corner. Whiplash continued to test Granite Bay, but could not find the back of the net. As the game was closing, Granite Bay scored against the run of play ending the game 1-1.
Sunday Whiplash traveled to Santa Cruz to play Santa Cruz Jaws. From the whistle Whiplash was in control of the game. Excellent passing and team work resulted in frantic defending from Santa Cruz. Whiplash was awarded a free kick outside of the box and Daniella Walker stepped up and made the Keeper make a fantastic save but the ball fell to Lauren Martin who converted! Unfortunately, the goal did not stand. The game was all Whiplash with breakaways from Savannah Boone, Lauren Martin and Brianna Torres challenging they Santa Cruz goal keeper repeatedly. The pressure was to much and whiplash again was awarded a free kick outside the box. This time Daniella Walker did not miss! Goal! Play continued with an almost perfect display of passing and team work. West Coast Whiplash Daniella Walker made it 2-0. Santa Cruz fought hard to get. Ack into the game, Isa Saavedra and Regan Mah held West Coast team together trough tough defense and Briana Odell, in goal was cool and confident, making multiple saves. Santa Cruz pulled one back and scored in the final minutes of the game. Final Score 2-1 win for West Coast Whiplash.
