Foundational Youth Soccer Program

West Coast Soccer Club is committed to teaching fundamental skills, instilling confidence and building a love for the game of soccer in youth players in our community while continuing to develop those players to their highest potential through excellent qualified coaching and superior training in a positive environment. West Coast Soccer Club’s motto is “For the LOVE of the Game!” We take this very much to heart. We want to encourage kids to get out and enjoy soccer and have passion for the game we love so much. We want to develop and help players to advance to competitive club soccer by learning foundational skills through our youth soccer program.

Program Focus

West Coast Soccer Club’s focus is to grow your child’s technical, tactical, physical, and psychological skills.

  • Fun, recreational play in a positive learning environment
  • Improve ball technique with age appropriate drills
  • Implement tactical skills by adapting and adjusting to the demands of the game in a competitive environment
  • Increase player’s speed/agility, strength/power, recovery
  • Improve overall game fitness
  • Encourage positive soccer attitude on and off the field

West Coast Soccer is proud to offer a program for recreational players in the Under-6 (U6) through Under-15 (U15) age groups based out of Mountain House. The recreational program is designed around player enrichment and development and is based on best practices in the soccer community including initiatives from the US Soccer Federation (USSF).

The recreational program is divided into two divisions.

The Lil’ Coasters division includes players in the U5, U6, U8, and Jr Academy Girls age groups. For the 2018 fall season, we are introducing the popular features of our spring Academy program into the Lil’ Coasters experience. These include:

  • 1 practice per week (1 hour) with our professional coaching staff centered on player development and fun
  • An optional practice per week with a trained parent-coach
  • For U5, U6, and U8 – Saturday game days in a 4 versus 4 format – no scores or standings are kept, games are managed by parent-coaches in a “new ball” format

The Senior division includes players in the Jr Academy Boys, Pre-Academy, and Academy age groups. The Senior division includes:

  • 2 practices per week with trained parent-coaches
  • Optional training with the professional coaching staff on Fridays
  • Saturday game days in appropriately sized formats – 5v5 to 11v11 depending on age group

In the Senior division, scores and standings are kept, and games are managed by referees and the rules are based on USSF age group guidelines. An end-of-season tournament determines the winner in each age group.

Volunteer Parent-Coaches

Our Parent-Coaches are volunteers who are dedicated to guiding players in a positive environment. The Director will hold coaching education sessions for Parent/Coaches to help with age-appropriate techniques ensuring proper education and the foundation for a great soccer experience. We encourage parent involvement to help with each team.
